Sound of Silence

I thought of this title immediately when I took this shot today afternoon. Standing at the shore of the frozen Lake Neusiedl in the eastern part of Austria, I experienced complete silence, only interrupted from time to time by the cracking of the ice.

I am immediately attracted by the shards of ice in this image, Peter. Very dramatic. Especially with the setting sun.

Cool ice patterns! I really like what you have going on in the foreground. Looks like the image could use a very slight CCW rotation, but very minor.

I heard that sound also today Peter, it truly is a wonderful sound. That's some great texture you have captured and I am surprised you don't have any motion blur in the ice,so well done there. Does look like it has a slight tilt to it, an easy fix. Cheers

Darn - I wish I was there to shoot this. I've postponed a Neusiedlersee visit so many times. I should finally go there and try my luck.
Great foreground and wide composition. The colors and the contrast could "pop" a little more IMHO and the horizon looks slightly tilted. You could also improve the web sharpening a little to emphasize the spikes of ice. But overall that's a very good capture of this lovely moment and place.
