WC #463 - Iced bubbles

by Monica Siri

Gallery: Weekly ChallengePosted December 19, 2010123 views11 comments
Taken last week after a few days of cold temperatures in a wood not too far from home.
The substrate beneath the ice is made by dried leaves and pebbles.
I chose this comp because I shot some images and I think that each of these shows an interesting pattern, sharing similar colors.

Thanks for viewing.
C&C are welcome.

The three panel comp is very nice and accomplishes your desired effect. I actually like the second image (comment image) better. The transition of color from left to right and the "random pattern " of bubbles do it for me.

Thumbs up on the Weekly challenge wins.

Monica, with the larger version I see what you saw much better. And I really like the bubbles, sort of a frozen effervesence. Would like to see what a little more saturation would do here. The patterns keep me interested throughout the frame.

Beautiful colors and patterns. The large post from one panel is really beautiful.

I agree with everyone else that the repost is beautifully textured. I'm sure the first post would be too if it were larger.

First one is cool--but second one is CRAZY good!! I find that is often the case with ice shots--the best ones are usually close detailed shots--which is why i really need a good macro lens badly!
Very nice ice, Monica!

Cool presentation Monica - Especially like the closeup..
Made me think of this little song.
"Tiny bubbles
Make me warm all over
With a feeling that I'm gonna
Love you till the end of time"
Merry Christmas :toast:

Interesting, I actually like the single image you posted rather than the 3 combined. IMHO it shows the subject much stronger. Thanks for sharing.
