Fire-tufted Barbet

A "lifer" Barbet for me, from Malaysia's montane region recently. Find a jungle fruiting tree and the Barbets will be there, and this one obliged by coming down to this perch to catch a horsefly - which I missed, of course! As you can see, it's very aptly named!

Compliments of the Season and thanks for looking!

Well done .

Another nice portrait of a new species (for me). Keep 'em coming, KC. I'm enjoying getting to know these Malaysian birds.

Love the greens of the bird and setting Kwan and that red tuft is neat. A fine image and a special one for you - those lifers don't come around every day.

There are lifers and then there are lifers, KC. Stunning bird, well-captured in that dim light under the canopy. Much flashier than the South American barbets.

When I see images like this it makes our birds look pretty ordinary. I really like the setting it blends in well with the surroundings. One to envy. Graham

Great bird Kwan, where did you get him Fraser's Hill? I remember seeing and photographing this guy there but never got him out in the open like this. Nicely captured. :toast:
