6 Cheetah cubs in a row

Hi all,

Here are the much talked about "Mara Six". The Cheetah cubs that are growing up in the Masai Mara region of Kenya this year.

The cubs were waiting for their mum to call them down as she was "preparing breakfast".

This is a small crop from the left and right hand side but a large crop from the top and bottom to create the pano.

It was great to witness but I wish I could have been closer and for a little more light as it was pretty early in the morning when this image was taken.

More images of these Cheetahs and from Kenya 2010 are available HERE

A slightly larger version of this image is available HERE

Canon 1dMk4, 500mm +1.4x, f5.6, 1/800. ISO1000

C& C most welcome.

Cheers

Austin

First I've heard of them. It'll be a miracle if they all make it, but this is remarkable in itself. Love the "smiling" one amidst all the serious siblings, btw.

Thanks for sharing this image. I hope they make it. Mom is going to be busy feeding them to raise 6 to adulthood.

HI Austin,

Very unique scene to witness and captured well. To have all 6 in a line (all within your lens's DOF) and looking up like that - wow...really rare! Biggest nit is really a non-nit: an image like this is hard to portray (or appreciate) at such a small size...would love to view a 1200 pixel wide version!

Thanks for sharing this...

It is impossible to tell at this size, but if the detail holds up to a large pano wall print, I suspect it will be stunning. It certainly has the audience appeal that would make it a seller.

I simply love love the third one from the left and how it appears to be smiling. Any chance all of them will make it to adulthood? I also really like the panarama crop.
