Yosemite Valley Fall

It was a wet rainy, soggy day. I liked the colors, especially in the grasses and foreground. The whole scene was kind of lacking in contrast. I had to tweak it a bit to try and cut through the moisture in the air. I wonder if it worked out, and if the color/contrast looks okay? A 4 vertical image stitch. Large version included as well. I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for your thoughts.

Thanks again for another great year here at NPN. I appreciate all the help, and friendly critiques. I wish everyone a safe and wonderful holiday!

Merry Christmas!

Chris

Merry Christmas to you as well Chris. Very nice display here, color and contrast look fine to me. The waterfall in the background is a nice touch. The small version definately does not do this scene justice, must view large! :toast:

Chris,

It actually feels a bit to contrasty to me, especially in the FG grasses. Otherwise I think it is great.

I like the earth tones. The waterfall in the back is a bit of icing  .The large version shines. :toast:

Well composed, Chris! The image is strong throughout for me.
The "larger" image really emphasizes the colors and textures
in the FG.

Merry Christmas!

Chris,
I love the composition and color pallet, but I'm also in favor of dialing back the contrast just a touch. I feel like it's taking away some of the depth here. Otherwise, this looks great.

Chris,

I actually like what you did with the contrast as I agree that it worked to cut through the heavy wet air of the valley on that day. The only thing I wish wasn't there was the trickle of Yosemite Falls! I recognize the location, but certainly the falls aren't part of the story here... although it certainly represents a differing and unique viewpoint from the Valley. And I think this works very well. The large version is of course quite excellent. The color and sat look quite accurate to me. Great job with this one!

And a Merry Christmas to you and yours as well! My best to you in the new year!

Love it Chris, this is definitely one I can imagine shooting--only not nearly as well! It looks wonderful at every level, and the way the first two levels are placed upon the BG mountainside, just perfect. Merry Christmas as well!

Rain does wonderful things to color doesn't it? This has a nice warm feel to it, and the pano crop works well. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!!

Another great addition to your portfolio Chris. Colours and light look great and the details just pop. The grasses up front are look a bit funny but that is probably due to compression. Nice job with increasing the contrast too. Cheers

Real nice, Chris! I would agree with Youssef about the foreground contrast, but otherwise, very well done. I also feel like it could use a slight CCW rotation. The meadow back edge on the right is lower than the left. Both are very minor nits.

What a great view from this locale, Chris. Another image that required a look see at the larger version to get the total impact overall. Very nice work.....

Chris, the larger verion rocks. I know it was raining, but it does seens alittle flat in the foreground grasses. other then that, this is a great image of the meadows.
