We do get winter in North Florida. This is the Wakulla River as the sun is trying to appear through the 'polar smoke' rising off the river. I hoped to capture the bank of fog, the coldness, the clear water (spring-fed river), and the flora - maple and cypress. Waited until there was enough light on the near bank, but not until fog was blown out.

Yes, we definitely do get winter. I love especially the water and the bank on the viewer's left in this image, the colors and reflection and lighting.

Wonderful atmosphere and mood. I especially like the right two thirds of the frame.

Well, without snow or ice, it doesn't look too terribly cold an the warm light isn't helping much either. However, I sure like the light and the warmth of the colors. Could see trying to bring up the shadows and the reflection just a bit.

Im a bit undecided about this. When I crop out the left bank, i find the right 2/3 more appealing from an aesthetic prspective, just a nice atmosphere and reflection. The stuff on the far left tends to pull my attention there and render the comp divisive--but i understand your point in keeping it in the frame and i think its a valid reasoning. Anyhow--an interesting shot!

David, you placed the trees very well, the way they shrink into the background is what I like the most.

Cool how the fog desaturates the color on one side. We dont get much fogs here in Hawaii but when we do, love the effects of it. Great shot.

I love the Wakulla River and I'm enjoying this image of it. Well representative of a winter's morn on the river, and I like your comp. This appears to be taken south of the state park section, is that right? Nice shot Daniel!

Thanks, all. And yes, Bill, this is about a quarter mile south of upper bridge (shadeville rd), looking north (of course). d

The mood here says winter in North Florida. No needles on the cypress trees and not a lot of green. The Wakulla and Wacissa Rivers used to be my old stomping grounds and I miss it a lot. Seen any manatees there lately? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. And yes, lots of manatees. The Wakulla spring bowl is full of them on these cold days.

David,

I'm sorry for missing your first posting, but I still wanted to welcome you to NPN and the ES&S Gallery! that first post was terrific and this one is beautiful too.

I like the two differing shorelines and how they draw the eye in to the scene. The misty atmosphere on the right gives this scene great mood and really makes the image what it is.

No real nits or suggestions from me. Welcome aboard!

Lon
