BoisDarc Bark

Hedge, Osage Orange, Bois Darc [sp?] are all the same tree. These were imported to Kansas during the Dirty Thirties of the 20th century to reduce wind erosion. The trees were planted along section, half-section and quarter section boundaries. There are very hardy, have thorns and make wonderful fence posts. The dried wood will make sparks fly from saws when it is cut.

This tree had a lot of texture in the bark.

Enjoy and feel free to comment. Based on the entries so far, mine is just for fun....

HDR via Photomatix, Nikon D700 and Nikkor 14-24 and Capture NX2. Larger version attached.

Very cool, Larry--i love the bark texture! The HDR has deepened the sky blues a bit too mucgh on the lhs, but i like the effect on the bark. :wavey:

This is a great image, real and yet almost unreal.

Larry,
I like how this image shows the intricate bark. Very nice texture.

Larry, I like your image as posted. I also would have taken that nice lens and gotten up close and personal with that crisscrossed bit of bark --right center. Hey, I was just thinking!

Good post
