Classic revisited

Just had another look at this shot. I opted now for even less color, just a touch of warmth.
Shifted the tonal balans towards the lights as well as pushing the contrast a little to keep some real blacks.
I feel it makes the snowy character stronger in this version. As wel as the classic feel of the scene.

I like very much the overall tone, although I think it would work equally well as black and white. The noise at the top of the image downgrades this somewhat for me. It doesn't work as snow with the warm tone. I think it is selectively removable without too much effort, if you want the warm tones.

I love the branches and form of these trees !
The noise at the top is pretty distracting, as it just looks "dirty" with the yellowish "warmth". A pure B&W conversion would be something to try.
Great potential here!

Herb, I agree with the previous assessments of the image, but the trees themselves are awesome and well lit. Keep 'em coming!!

Gorgeous image, Herb, and great choices on the processing to elevate this to an even more artistic level. I'll bet it's wonderful just on its own, too. This gives me the feeling that it has just started to snow heavily, and that you've caught the scene before the trees get overly burdened with snow. Love the "sketch" look of the trees and believe the push of contrast accomplished that in spades. Congratulations on this work of fine art and for the EP.

I really love this shot. Just LOVE it.

I'm not qualified to critique the craft side just the simple artistic beauty of the photo.

Thanks to you all for your kind and constructive comments. Last week I have been trying again and again to print a nice version of this image. To get a really satisfactory print is quite an effort. But certainly worth it.
