Wilson's Warbler

This handsome little fellow flew into a shrub close by where I was stalking a Little Blue Heron the day before Christmas at Brazos Bend State Park just outside Houston. I only had time to grab a few quick shots before he was gone. The setting is a bit cluttered, but I was able to catch him with nice early morning sun in a bit of a clearing in the under brush. This is the first time I have seen this species and I hope I have the identification correct - it was quite a nice surprise.

Yep that's a Wilson's alright. One of my favorite warblers. Cluttered is where they live, so it's pretty difficult to get a clean shot. Nice and sharp and the colors look good. :toast:

all in all, a very nice shot, Randy. these guys are always too fast for me. I like the colors throughout, and your choice on the comp. Bird looks nice and sharp. On the one hand, the grass cutting across the bird is perhaps less than ideal; on the other hand, I do like the interesting effect of how the four blades of grass frame the birds head. :toast:

A super shot Randy. I like the habitat and the fine grasses around the bird add to the image IMO. Nice exposure and sharpness. Well done.

I have no nits Randy - a fine image as posted IMO. I think the way the golden grasses frame the head is all positive.

This is beautiful. The bird is so very clear and stands out so well from everything else.

I love the colors in this one, with the bright colors of the bird just popping off the screen, against the nice contrasting colors of the background, ruddy weeds, and grass.
