I was conducting a tour again at the Eco-Reserve in Paradise Valley not to far from Whistler BC yesterday. I was fortunate to get a few days of clear weather!! Being a rain-forest, you need to take advantage of the sunny days when you get them. Currently the Bald Eagles are in the area for a few more weeks. I caught this eagle close to a small salmon channel  I also attached a larger version to view. I am more of a landscape photographer, but when wildlife is present it is fun to switch gears and get into a different style of photography!

This image was taken hand held, and cropped from 4912x3264 to 1220x1755
1/800sec, F3.5, 300mm, ISO100

Nice detail in the bird james. i would place him higher in the frame and lighten some of the detail in the shadow side of the bird.

Thanks for the comment Alan. I missed bringing out some detail on the dark side of the eagle  As for changing the eagles position, I do not have much room to move him around, since I cropped tight to eliminate some distracting branches around the eagle.

Wonderful detail and clarity, great separation from background and comp. I love the lighting on the left and would probably lighten the right just a bit.

Thank you for the nice comments. These guys are tough to photograph in the rainforest! They are usually up high in the trees. I will look at the raw image and see if I can lighten the right side a bit more. Thanks again

Beautiful lighting you have captured here. Great detail in the head and beak. I like the darkness-it's a rainforest.
