I like how the two are interacting. I don't think the bull laying down could care less what the calling bull wants. Nicely placed in the frame too.

Hi John,

The behavioural interaction here is interesting and I have to say that the bull on the ground doesn't seem to be too worked up or impressed by the "threat" of the standing bull. To me this shot is almost 100% about the interaction between the two subjects so my first thought is that a little tighter crop might strengthen this shot.

In terms of the black & white conversion: I find it almost impossible to conclude such a process has improved a shot without seeing the original colour version (assuming that it was captured in colour), but in this case the limited tonal range (i.e., high contrast) of the posted shot makes me wonder if the colour version may have been a little more interesting. Just a guess...could be out to lunch on this one!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Brad

Great comments, guys. Thanks. I was just thinking about same thing. I will do a tighter crop.

Nice pose of the elk who seems to be bellowing, but for me the B&W does not add to this photo. Maybe as suggested if it was cropped tighter. From the size of these antlers, I would guess these 2 are not old enough to take on the big guys, or in their decling years, can't really tell age in the photo. Thanks for sharing.

Neat shot and comp. If anything, I might take a sliver more from the left and bottom. I agree that these are youngsters, but already thinking like elk!
