Behind the Mountains

This is another shot from my Yellow Mountains (China) trip in December 2010. Tang-Kou is a small town under Yellow Mountains. From the top of "First Belief Peak", we can see the town when the sky is clear enough.

I love the light on the top of the mountain.

Very effectively composed around the area of spot lighting. I don't recall seeing a Huang Shan shot that included a city before. Very nice!

Hi Barbara, Thanks for your comment.

Charlie, Thanks for your comment. I climbed to the top of so call "First Belief Peak" before dawn, which is in similar structure of the ones showing in the picture.

Hi Kah Kit, Thanks for your comment. I showed this picture to one photographer specialised in Huang Shan shooting, he also mentioned he didn't think of this composition including the city before.

Nice catch on the last light. It is a rarity to have clear sky in China now, even in remote places like Huangshan. Looks like there is no snow accumulation. Two places in China I would like visit in snow: 1) the Great Wall, 2) Huangshan.

I love the light on the peak Yan. I also like how the city serves as a subdued backdrop to the peaks.

This is a fabulous photo, Yan. Your timing was perfect; the sun on the peak jumps out at me. I have never seen peaks like this used as a foreground element in quite this way before. Masterfully done.
