Jay

Taken during Summertime through my living room window.

This Jay landed on the feeding station about 10 feet or so outside my window and kindly stayed there long enough for me to get this shot.

These are very timid birds and are easily spooked so I was very lucky.

Sony A350
Sigma 50-500
1/1250th
f8
ISO 400
230mm
-0.3 stop exposure compensation
Centre-weighted metering
Hand held
Cropped a bit off the left hand side.

Congrats on the capture, Geoffrey. Jays are so difficult to photograph, so you have done very well with this one. I like the green BG and the inclusion of the blue sky.

I like how the well defined colors of the bird stand out from both the green and blue background. Nice head turn too. There is a shadow here but it doesn't conceal much of the bird. Fine shot. :toast:

Nice Jay portrait, Geoffrey. Never seen this particular type of Jay before.

Well done.

Lovely capture. You did very well controlling DOF here, and the pose of the bird is great.

Nice, Geoffrey. I like the pose and the perch. I do think I'm seeing a slight white fringe around the beak-you might want to blow it up and take a look. :toast:
