RN Pheasant - No Hunting

A bit of irony, especially in this state, where the Ring-necked Pheasant (an introduced species) is the state bird, and the airport ini Sioux Falls has to schedule many more flights than normal every fall to accomodate the huge influx of out-of-state hunters.

If I were this guy, I'd hang out RIGHT here.

Canon 50D, 400 5.6L, ISO 800, 1/1000, f6.3.

I like it, Terry. Great light and the bg is classic fall in SD. Was this taken south of Presho? I have almost the same image (it looks like the same fence post) with a hen pheasant from a couple of years ago.

Ah, you know the spot! Yeah, that section by the old farmstead is one of my favorites for finding raptors in the winter.

This is really a neat image, Terry. I like it alot. I didn't know those guys could read, but I guess so. I'd hang out right there too if I were him. Nice work. large version is extra nice.

Wonderful capture Terry. Seems Mr. Ring Neck knows where his safety zone is. Seems he is making sure he is reading the sign correctly to be sure.

This reminds me of the "safe zone" while playing the game tag as a kid. Really great shot of this pheasant and catching him at this spot adds a humorous touch. Wonderful lighting and the large version really shows the detail and high quality of this photo, well done.

That's the safest spot, huh? Unfortunately the hawks don't always obey the signs!

Oh, what a fantastic shot! It's as if the pheasant is throwing down a triple-dare... In which case I think he better run for lots of good cover. What gorgeous birds they are, too, so well portrayed here.

Love it - in addition to being a grand image, (beautiful, sharp bird and nice BG) it is a telling story.
Congrats on the EP!
