I've been working on some older photos and this is one of them. In this peony I was concentrating on the center and letting the petals kind of just "envelope" the center. I liked the bg of the touch of green and the slight flare. I felt the flare mimicked the center. BUT...what do you all think?

I enjoy the colors in this very much and that the bg has some texture in the flares, but I would tone down the brightest one a little. I also like that you have left the pollen on the petals!!

Beth:
I like this image for the reasons you mentioned. Including the bg, you have all three primary colors here. Great choice of DOF and lovely bg blur.

Beth: Love the petals and center and the BG color. The brightest flare is a bit too strong for my tastes but I don't think it would be all that tough to tone down. Well done. >=))>

Beth,

I tend to like flares in images and I like the smaller ones in this. For my tastes though the larger flare here competes too much with the center of the flower for attention. That reservation aside I love the color palette and thinks it's a strong composition.

Hi Beth,

In this particular image, I have a suggestion.

You have beautiful coloring and what looks like fine detail. Would suggest that you let go of the green and flare and crop this to a square format, cropping from the top.

I think you just might end up with a striking image.

Ciao ;^)

Beautiful color Beth and great detail. I think I would burn or clone the one bright area in the upper center.

I love the angle on the flower, Beth - it really brings out the flow of the petals and the swirls of the stamens. Not quite sure about the flare - just a little distracting for me. But a very lovely image.

I love the colors and delicate details in the stamens, but the bright background highlights do draw my eye. I'd either tone them down or crop to a square to eliminate all green.

Hi Beth :wavey: The fine detail and colors are great  Your choice of DOF works very well.... The green B.G.. is very complimentary. I love flares in the B.G. but agree with Bill and Pat About the intensity of lerger flare

Very lovely color, composition, and focus. I find the brightest highlight too distracting. While it does mimic the center of the peony, I think it competes a bit too much for the main focus.Very nice job!
