Drifting through Antiquity

I guess I was feeling in an artistic mood. Nick Brandt was in the back of my mind during this one and I felt the soft sepia treatment worked well here. An earlier file from Pictured Rocks Park when I first bought my digital camera. I worked this one up in LIghtroom then photoshop for conversion. Edge burning was utilized and I know others might not like it but I feel it conveys my approach. It was kind of moody in my home as I had Pandora radio streaming through my entertainment speakers (Howard Shore channel).

Thanks for your time and comments.

Nice! It feels a little tight to me, but most verticals do, so it's probably just me. Also, maybe a tad heavy/dark at the top. I love the foreground, and the processing. I also really like Nick Brandt. I have his book, A Shadow Falls, and I get emotional every time I look through it.

Anthony, very nice shot. Like everything about it (except I agree with the top being a little heavy). Way to go! :toast:

Cool shot, might also work with the darkest part of the sky cropped out, or at least brightened a bit, it's very inky on my monitor.

Very beautiful image with a great mood to it.
In case you haven't tried, I think it would look nice in an alternative crop as well. Cutting some 15% or so off the bottom (and potentially a bit off the top to keep the horizon high).

Excellent composition and processing. I love the mix of sharp and blurry elements and the way the flow of the water leads up into the frame.

I like it Anthony, has a nice comp, and i like the sepia treatment on this one. I would possibly consider taking a tad off the top, but overall very nice.

Very nice, Anthony. I like your processing here alot. Wonderful mood! I think a bit off the top would be ok too, but great work as is.

Beautiful shot Anthony, and exquisite conversion. I might crop about 5-10% off the top.

Great processing on this one Anthony, it has a great flow to it. I love those textures and lines in the rocks reminds me of the granite around Lake Huron where I shoot. I don't mind the the heavy top and the edge burning all part of your artistic vision. I do have a question about the framing and the choice about where you started your framing of the rock in the lower left corner. I was wondering why you cut it off and the rock mid frame at the edge? I am just trying to understand framing and composition better that's all. Lovely picture. Cheers

I think the tones need a bit of evening, maybe darkening the foreground a bit as well. Then hit print.

Great tonality here, Anthony. I find the fg intriguing, but very appealing. I hope to one day have the chance to photograph rugged ocean shores like this one. Superb!

Love the lines and the depth they help convey. I'd either crop a tad of the dark off the very top or do something to help balance that top area more, but otherwise this really works for me.
