White Swam

Sugar Land TX 1/7/2011

D3 ISO 400. D3 300/2.8 with 2x tc. f8 1/640 -0.3ev. About 90% FF. Natural Light. Resting on car window.

I started out taking images of this swan in the water. But he got out of the water and walked over to my car-probably for food-he must have been disappointed. Eventually I could only image his head-which was still wet from his swim.

I like the detail and the water drops. The texture, especially on the larger photo is outstanding. I feel the image is a bit confined in the frame.

Beautiful close-up, Angela. The water droplets, color and sharpness are very attractive characteristics. The impression of crowding might come from the eye being just a bit high in the frame. You could bring it down to the line marking the top 1/3 of the image by cropping a little off the bottom and a little off the lhs. :toast:

Exquisite detail in both blacks and whites - tough to do! couldn't be better!
The tight crop works for me..

Nice intimate portrait of the Mute Swan Angela, the details are superb and I'm not bothered by any sense of crowding, in fact I think the comp works real well.

Lovely portrai, with exceptional detail in blacks and whites. I really like the water droplets on plumage too.

A wonderful study in the detail of the head. Spot on exposure and colors. I like the background with this subject a lot. The oft maligned Nikkor 2X teleconverter did wonders in this case.
