I remember more than 3 decades ago when I was asked by my high school biology teacher how ants moved their legs; he asked us to observe ants but I never quite work out how they move because they move just too fast. No I know the answer with this image.

I tend to overlooked ants but seeing the wildlife photographer of the year at the Veiolia Photographer went to a photo on leaf cutter ants pique my interest.

Beautiful Gary ..and thanks for reminding me of the weaver ants ..as I have a location where I have to shoot them ..I had done them about three years back...These are a wonderful specie to make images of ...especially with some back light on their semi transparent bodies ..

A wee bit tighter ..and without that piece of color below its antennae would make this a killer ..

well done

Very nice shot, Gary.

I know how difficoult ants can be. I knew the example you mentioned and one of our subjects for next spring will be ants, for sure!

Ciao!

Very cool shot, Gary . . . I can imagine that you must have to have some patience to capture this subject in just the right way. Not to mention, working with 32mm of extension tubes and shooting handheld can tax your patience as well!
