Had another try for the owls today but same old story (for me anyway) they came out to late we only had a few minutes of decent light. It didn t come as close as I would have liked but will not give up and one day I will get the shot I long for.Have gone for this crop as the bg was all the same don t know if it works.

Canon 1DMK4, Canon 500f4L + 1.4 convertor, ISO 800, f5.6, 1/500

You are having more success with SEOs than me  i think this crop works and the bird is detailed enough. Its a good shot. But I know what you mean I am still trying to take the flying barn owl shots Ive got in my mind, dont even get me started on my SEO ambitions!

Good luck and look foward to seeing your killer SEO shot :toast:

I like this one Karen the pano works very well and the light is lovely.
It's great to keep chasing the one in your mind, we have to have ambition or else it isn't worth going. I do find that it is easy to scoot through your images when you get home and be unhappy with them because they weren't what you wanted only to discover one day in the future that they weren't anywhere near as bad as you thought, they just hadn't been what you were after at the time.

Works well for me Karen! If anything, I think you could give a little more space on the bottom.

Nice. You'll have to get your SEOs a new alarm clock.

I'm not too sure about this one at all, it seems to me to be neither one thing or the other, neither a study of an Owl nor an " in environment shot", as they seem to call images taken from too far away these days.
