Anas penelope

Hi All,

I've not posted for a while, but I managed to get out and do some photography at the weekend finally, so I thought I'd try out the new format!

Not sure about the processing on this, as the monitor is new and has not yet been calibrated. It looks a little dark on the laptop, but then I find the laptop can make things look a bit dark anyway...

Techs:
D200, 500mm f4 lens
1/500sec @f5.6 200ISO
Tripod, mud...

C and C most welcome as normal!

Thanks for looking! :wavey:

Lovely image. Good detail and I like the low point of view. Processing looks fine on my monitor.

Looks fine on my monitor. A relaxed looking bird. Maybe crop a little from the right?

I spent some time yesterday trying to photograph these, nothing as good as this though. I like the lighting on the head and the only thing I would like to see different is the bird positioned a little more to the right. Good to see you posting again, Dawn.

Looks Ok on my gear Dawn.
You could try to lighten the back of the head a tiny bit but no big deal.

I like this a Dawn and agree with others comments - you did well as the Wigeon I see are usually flying away from me if I try to get anywhere near this close :wavey:

Hi Dawn

Nice to see you posting again. A subject I've never had a great deal of luck with and you've tackled it beautifully. With the duck looking left, I'd have been inclined to have placed the subject closer to the right third. Other than that, nice relaxed subject well captured.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks all for the kind comments!

This is certainly the closest I've ever managed to get to the Wigeon, or maybe I should say, that this is the closest the Wigeon have got to me? It took a good hour of me sitting still, half hidden by a gatepost, before they relaxed enough to graze within range.

Thanks again! :wavey:
