Barn Owl in flight - taken over the Xmas/New Year period.

(I just need to post something recent as work is getting to me at the moment :eek and the next holidays appear epochs distant)

Techs
500mm/Tpod
400'/F4/800ASA
normal PS and crop and it is quite a high crop as it is a portrait taken from a landscape - so it is about half frame - about 8MP.

Stunning shot! Love the light on the Owl and the central placement.
The prey in it's feet is a bonus.

Well seen!

greetings,

Lovely shot, love the way the owl's coming straight towards you, and great background too, with just enough detail to suggest the habitat.

Quite a different take on the usual BO shots we see. Nice to see horizontal wings on a vertical crop too. If only the bird had been a bit above the fence but no big deal.
Like it.

Well captured Tom, not easy when the bird is coming towards you like this.

You've certainly nailed this one Tom. Central placement works well with the head on subject.

The head on approach is great, and the bird really pops out from the background.

I like the symmetry of the bird Tom, it works well. It's unusual to see one flying straight towards the camera. Nicely taken.
