Emerge

Taken a few summers ago along the Kings River in Kings Canyon National Park. This is a little creek emerging from the forest as it flows into the river.

Re-working some past shots - learning more about PS CS4 = re-editing = does it ever end!

Cannon 50D, f16, 30 sec, 28mm focal length, cropped a bit to clean up the edges, no filter.

Comments and suggestions always welcome.

thanks for looking!

David,

This is a lovely, little cascade. I really like the colors and the compact, yet very comfortable composition. Even the giant, weathered log up top does well to frame the composition.

The only nitpick I have is that this seems to be either over-sharpened some - I guess "chunky" might be too harsh - maybe too much contrast? Hard to say without seeing and working the original. I really like this intimate cascade with the mosses, color and silky water. Just slightly heavy with either contrast or sharpening.

A nice intimate scene David. I like the color and textures here. I do wish there was a just a bit more room at the top.

A very nice little creek, David, and I like the tight frameing. The colors and moss on the big rocks looks really nice too. Like Bill, I do wish for a little more room on top.

That's a nice little water scene - just the way I like it. Especially the color variations are very interesting.
The sharpening is way too harsh. You might give my web sharpening script a try (link in my signature).

Thanks all, especially for the heads up on the sharpening. I'll try it again with a little less. It's nice to have other eyes to catch what mine don't. Thanks again.

This seems like a well-crafted photo of an intimate scene. I doesn't necessarily wow me, but it's very easy to enjoy.
