Your basic perched shot, I like it for the touch of color from a few stubborn red/yellow fall leaves background..
F/8, 1/400th, ISO 640, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x ext, no flash & overcast around 11:00am. Greater than 75% of the original.

Nice detail and fall colors Howard. I agree with you about the red in the BG...it does add to this. I might be tempted though at cropping (just a sliver) off the bottom and right to pull more the viewers attention more on those colors. :toast:

Nice shot, Howard. I do agree with the suggestion of cropping a bit the image... look at mine...

Great detail and the spots of color behind the bird are great. I like the pose and the composition too.

Really nice bg and a nice clean, simple shot. I think you could sharpen up the eye area a little. Sharon

The leaves make a beautiful bg, Howard. The Siskin seems just a bit soft to my eye. This is a very nice pose. I've found it difficult to get Siskins in an appealing pose, though they're very trusting around here, so they provide lots of opportunities. :toast:

Lovely pose and comp, Howard. I too find the bird a little soft. You needed a higher ss I think.

Howard, the colors all work together nicely. I like the perch and comp. You're right about the red, gives it a spotlight effect behind the bird.

The background colors really compliment this siskin well Howard. I like that pose. May benefit from one more round of sharpening. Very nice image.

I agree Howard - the splash of yellow in the wing combined with the coloured leaves really lifts the whole image.
