This is a portrait of green jay that was taken while shooting from ground photoblind at my friend's ranch in South Texas. In an excited or agitated state, these birds top feathers rise up as in many other bird species. It is not uncommon to see up to 8-10 of these birds foraging together.

Canon 7D, 300 mm, F4, 1/640, ISO 100, Aperture Priority w/ tripod
