Anhinga, preening

I found this Anhinga preening in the late afternoon with the sun burning through the overcast. I would have liked a more uniformed BG, but I just couldn't get the black hole out of the comp. Taken at Six Mile Cypress Slough, Ft Myers, FL.

Thanks for looking, C&C's appreciated.

One needs to look at the larger version to see the details in the feathers. His tail looks like armor. Nice headturn with the preening. I think the background is fine.

In spite of the black hole a great shot. The eyes and back of the bird are perfcetly focused.

Nice Chuck. I like the preening pose and the overall natural look of the image. Maybe just a bit more sharpening on the head area?

Nice look at this Anhinga Chuck. I like the pose and great perch. I think I would be tempted to tone down the brightness of the background. It seems to overpower and pull my attention away from the Anhinga.

Good pose. Like how the tail follows the lines of the perch and the wing positioning is kite-like.

Chuck,

Love the pose & preening action, wing position and eye contact. I like the colorful background. I know these birds are a challenge to expose, I may have used 0.0 or +0.3 EV so the darks would have more detail.

Its a great pose Charles, and the bird stands out nicely.
The others have made some good suggestions, so enough said.
Good detail, well done :toast:
