Hurricane Damage

Shot this a few years back at Cape San Blas, FL after a couple of bad hurricane summers, though I never processed it until today (Bored!). The beach erosion & tree damage was horrible. At this location the sand was about 3 feet deeper before the storms than it is in this image. The waterfront was also about 35-40 yards further out then. Sad to see all the ravaged trees.

A very telling tale - wish we could see "before" as well..
It's hard to appreciate the extensive damage from these storms unless one has been there.
Excellent EPJ image!

This is a great image Bill, I like everything about it. My only nit is that I think it would be better in the ESS gallery. This doesn't really show mans effect on nature as much as natures effect on itself. I really do like the image though.

Wonderful image. Love the soft light and how you placed the damaged trees leading us the bg trees. I guess what I am saying is the composition is great.

I have a similar image I was thinking about posting here as well. One in which beauty hides the erosion of sand which doesn't have natural replenishment since man has damned up most of the rivers and watersheds here in California. I have to finish processing it first.

Definitely a problem that not many are aware of or a problem that is not of high concern - since it isn't in your face destruction. Thanks for the post.

Great photo, Bill! But you're right, it's pretty sad to see all the trees torn up. Nice job and congrats on the Pick.

I really like this comp! While it's hard to relate to the sand without prior reference to the site, the comp leads my eye from one broken element to the next. Well done!
