Took 1/11/11 on the Snake River. Was to be a sunny cold day- it was a cold cloudy day, but that is better than a day in the office. Still kicking myself for not leaving enough room at the bottom!!!
Hoping that I will get a lot of C&C on this photo. First time out with the Nikon D300.

D300, 200-500mm @500mm shooting upward.
f6.3, 1/640's, ISO 640 HH, UV filter

He chose a beautiful piece of moss and lichen covered rock to stop and pose for you. I like the way you are looking slightly upwards to his position, makes him look more noble (shooting from above rarely works with these guys in my experience). I think you could brighten this up a fraction of a stop, a wholesale increase in exposure would provide a bit more detail in the dark underparts and make the whites nose and butt less "beige". Crying shame about the hind foot - dang!

Hi Ron, I think Gary gives some good advice on this one. understand your frustration with the room at the bottom, we have all done that from time to time. :toast:

Very nice pose. I would be tempted to try a vertical crop since that hind leg is cut off. Done the same thing many times unfortunately. I agree with the need to boost brightness just a bit. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice overall Ron and that is why it is a real pity about the clipped off hoof! :frown:

Impressive curl on this ram and I really like the moss and lichen covered rocks. Pose is good and you've nicely composed this image. Now, about that dang foot...and with a zoom!

Great pose. Excellent environment. The foot clipped off may not be ideal, but does not bother me much. Love that head turn. :toast: :toast:
