Sorry for my lack of participation, I've been trying to set up a new website. The posts have been wonderful. This is another from the kitchen. All C&C welcome. Thanks

The very small aperture worked well to highlight the iris & produce this black BG, gives it a nice spotlit look. I might have composed with less space top, just my opinion. I've done some indoor flower shots myself, using indirect light from a nearby window. Never at f/50 though. My Sigma 150mm starts to fall off/loose sharpness above F/18 or so..
Well done :toast:

Sorry for the confusion Howard, this wasn't shot at f50...that is just my ID number for filing.

I like your choice of composition and lighting. The lighter portion of leaf to the right fights for my attention from the main subject. My only suggestion might be to try and darken that and see how it affects the overal image.

Love the light and the darkness Robert. Beautiful image for my tastes. No suggestions. Well one, if you wanted to crop down and over a little from the viewer's upper left corner you could put a little more emphasis on the bloom - purely subjective though.

Bob:
Nice take on this iris. Agree with Derek's suggestion of darkening the lighted leaf on the right.

Beautiful photo. I love the vibrant colour and the placement of light. Wish the petals were a little sharper but overall its a stunning image.
