The Ice Family, at home

This is my second photo post on this forum, and I am just not sure if this fits here. Its not really a macro, it was shot close but not THAT close, with a Canon 5D II, and a Canon 24-105, this was at the bottom of an ice fall (frozen water fall) on the side of the road leading into my little town. Its not pretty, sorry. The post process was as shot, but then a bicolor 4 in Nik Effex, but with the opacity turned WAY down, then a softening with Glamor Glow, and then perversely, sharpening in CS4. This is such a nice forum. Any comments or suggestions about where this really should go, if anywhere, lol! are welcome. Kat :wavey:

Thank you Dave, Hi Al! Yes I think you are abs right, it would be better trimmed just above the tip of the grass spear held by the lady in the centre. k

This may sound nuts! But I would crop the photo to emphasize the "giraffe" on the right, including the Koala going up the tree just left of it. Plus leave in a couple of more "trees". Then, I would brighten the ice, so it looks bright, not dirty.

Yes, I see animals in clouds, etc...........Now, I know you think I'm Really crazy :jump: :jump:

Thank you Lucy, for even thinking of suggesting a change to this photograph. Here is my repost, I used Nik Effex to clean the snow a bit, but its not really possibly unless I get in there and vacuum the house in PS4. The Ice People are not really all that keen on housework. :wavey:

Much better. I love the little giraffe! The "nude on the left is cool, too Might put her in her own, very little, cave in a different photo with the spotlight on her.. But, for the family, I'd go back to the original photo. I like the whites much better. keep the bottom intact, but the top still a little cropped. I think the "air" to the left of the "stabbed ball is distracting you away from the ice cave, trim to just before the left edge of the FG icicle But, I'd keep the entire right side
The FG icicles give a nice frame effect. Since you have Nik Efex, I might try to use darken /lighten to throw a little light on the little people, and darken the shadows a little more around them.. They are probably in the cave with a fire going, so the shadows in back should be deep. this should make the folks stand out.
I think this would be good for the art forum, as it tells a story. You're getting close to something unique. An ice family huddling in a cave!!

:wavey: Almost forgot, I'd take the twigs out. PS: if Stan is watching, THIS WILL CONFIRM that I'm a little crazy!

Hope my critique/directions are not too specific for your own creativity!

Thanks Lucy! I think you are on to something here. I dont know my way around Efex very well yet, I only just got if for Christmas, but I will try what you asked for. As you know I am new here and I have all these truly bizarre and sometimes disturbing photographs that I dont know what to do with. Fabs Forns thought maybe I would be tolerated here, so thanks so much for your help with this, All good ideas and well worth horseing around with. Or giraffing.

PS If you are nuts, what does that make me?
