Golden Blizzard

A shot from high up in the mountains on a cold and windy afternoon. The light was terrific and i love how the wind threw the snow all over the mountain.

Also fascinating to see the wind blowing the snow in snakelike patterns down the mountainside...view large to investigate.

Have a great week!

Oh wow, that is sweet, Arild. The diagonal line going across the frame with contrasting cool and warm colors on each side is amazing. Then the snow being blown off really gives off a sense of motion and the power of the wind. One of my favorites of yours! :toast:

Nice comp and the tones and windblown softness make this almost an abstract. Nice!

Great light and shadow detail Arild, I think you've captured the conditions very well.

Dramatic scene, very well photographed Arild.
Even though, this is a simple composition, liked the way the light segments the frame beautifully.
Thanks for sharing.

I like how this gives me no true sense of horizon, and depending on how I look at it, it can almost create a sense of vertigo, as if sliding down an immense slope!

Very nice almost inviting light. I know though that is still a harsh and unforgiving environment.

How do you come up with these compositions, Arlid? This takes the snowscape to a whole new level. What a good eye for the light.

Thx for the response good folks! This one has always struck me as a photo that other landscapephotographers would appreciate, but the general public would probably find too artistic...

Excellent atmospheric picture, Arild.
It gives a nice sense of the place and the conditions out there in the cold.
