Another photo of the fox from Yellowstone. In this one he is listening for a vole.

Terrific texture, terrific pose! DOF control is admirable. Great job. I think you can safely process this a little brighter, globally. Then try this and let me know what you think: Add selective brightness and equal amount of selective contrast to just the orb of the eye. The difference will be subtle, but I think it will help keep the eye from hiding in the shadow of the face. This is a really, really nice fox capture and I would love to have it in my files!

I think I agree with Lon on the brightness issue Dan. I think your comp is excellent and the pose of the fox is spot on. I also like the dusting of snow on the foxes face.

Gary.

Love the coy-full pose of the fox! Beautiful choice of composition! I would have liked to see it a little brighter as well. Cheers

Love the comp on this one Dan. The snow on the nose is a huge bonus as well! I like the look he is giving...shows he is very focused and tells the story. Like others, I think it could be brightened up a smidge. Great work!

Thanks, everyone. I have struggled with presenting the snow, as usual. I agree with the comments, but it will be tomorrow before I can do a repost, with global and selective brightness.

Agreed that it could be brighter, but I'm simply marveling at how close you got. The texture of the fur looks great.

Great pose and comp. The tail paralleling the little furrow and the tilted head give it a nice high/right to low/left line. The detail in the snow is also very good. Nice image. :toast:

Thanks Lon, for your advice. I have globally brightened the image, selectively lightened around the eye just slightly. I then selected the globe of the eye and applied equal amounts of brightness and contrast. I think this improved the image. Subtle in this small version, but more noticable in a larger version, which I can not post in a reply.
Nowhere else could I get feedback and instruction like this except NPN. Thanks.

One of the best Fox shots I've seen on NPN. The repost makes for a better image, and I like how the white tip of the tail hasn't been lost against the white of the snow, excellent work, Dan.

Dan, I am liking those changes. How about posting it again as a new post so more will notice the changes and so they can see it at 1200?!
