A rainy day indoor shoot. An image stack, 22 images, I tried several lighting methods and seem to keep returning to using the speedlite powered down to 1/128 and a Honl 1/8" honeycomb filter for soft light.

Thanks for your comments, larger version available

canon 7D
canon 100mm macro f2.8L IS USM
F/2.8 -.67 1/3 ISO 100
tripod, cable, stackshot rail, helicon soft, LR, NIK suite

Really like the composition Craig. Something seems amiss with the colors though, but it may be my monitor.

I always like the soft light Craig. Your composition and lighting is what makes this for me.

Very nice, Craig. In viewing the large version, I notice the stem which I like but it seems to disappear from the last bloom and I'm just wondering if a hint of it with a bit of light would help to connect the last bloom to the rest. Do I make any sense? Anyway, I do like this.

I like the image Craig. The color seems a tad burned to me (a little too black or darkened) - almost like solarization. It's not a big deal, just a little odd. I like the composition but agree with Beth about bringing the stem into view. Nice pov and comp.

THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS, EVERYONE! I am going to have to reshoot these and see if I can't improve the images. I had a problem with the lighting which I think I've narrowed down to light glare off of several of the orchids waxy surfaces. I think I will try again with natural sunlight thru a window.

Craig: The stem is my only question but I like the comp and subjects a lot. Looking forward to what you do with these. >=))>

Craig:
I knew this was yours from the thumbnail with your signature lighting. However, something seems amiss this time. Look forward to seeing a retake of this.

Beautiful work. The light is special here as well as the comp. Terrific image.
