There isnt enough space for my title, its:

"We may be Llaaaaamas but we have Staaaaandards"

Shot this afternoon at work, with Canon 5D II, 24-105, f/10, 1/1600s, iso 5000, and then PS cloned out some fence and some marks in the snow, then I used Nic Effex, Paper Toner setting 4 CEP 50%. It was getting dark, and I didn't have much light for what I was out for, but these guys were just a scream. I couldnt not take this photograph.

Nice picture, my girlfriend and I like it!
Nevertheless, I guess you could use for a portrait a lower aperture (f/4 for example) and a lower shutter speed (1/200s), what could allow you to decrease the ISO to avoid too much noise.
f/10 does not have any sense for such a portrait, as well as 1/1600s for a 105mm max. lens with IS. Furthermore in darkness.

Merci David, de votre conseil. It was 4 PM and getting dark, the animal was moving and I wanted the other llama in the background. Shot in AV against snow the cam gave me a high speed, as I had set the iso high for the fading light and f/10 for the depth to catch the second llama.

Your advice is good though for a stationary well lit portait setting of something not wishing to kick you!

This is terrific, I love the pose. All the texture in the fur is also quite nice, but I think the toning really sets this of, well seen and processed.

Thank you Scott and Eva, it was a fun image, but I had very little time. Thanks for looking at this and making such kind comments. kat

The hairdo of the front Llama is cracking me up! I'm sure if they were stationary and you had time to plan the shot, you may have come up with a better SS/Aperature combination, but this works fine for me. I also really like the processing. :toast:
