Last weekend an unusually warm weather system brought heavy rain to the Pacific Northwest. This rain melted a significant amount of the snow pack in the Cascades, which caused the creeks and rivers to rise to very high levels. This image was from the Columbia River Gorge on Wednesday...several days after the main flooding. The water flow was still quite impressive and the spray from the falls was very persistent.

Nicely composed with the off center falls and the water carrying the eye through the scene. I like the intensity of the green on the rocks.

Sure a nice "winter" scene! Does that place ever turn brown? The extra flow makes for a nice shot.

Beautifully composed, Scott. I really like the visual interplay of the moving, powerful, yet silky water with the razor sharp details and intense colors of the river banks.

Nice comp. The water feels like it flows right through the image. The lush greens are beautiful.

beautifully composed and great low angle. It seems to me you could push the whites to brighten the scene a bit, as long as you mask out the effect on the falls and some of the brighter highlights..

Neat composition Scott. Liked the way water starts off on URC and flows diagonally through the frame. The greens are rich and lovely. Would have been nice to have some room on top but then you knew your field conditions better.

How often do you hear that expression? Interestingly I heard someone mention it in a conversation just last week. Funny little coincidences (well, I thought it was funny).
Excellent composition, color, and detail.

Definitely wouldn't guess it's winter. Great comp, maybe a touch brighter in the midtones? Although it does have a very overcast feel to it.

Beautiful shot Scott. I really like the way the water flows without looking too fuzzy. The comp and colors are also very nice.

I so love it when it does that in Oregon (for waterfalls, that is)! I'm working on getting my life organized to the point where when freaky weather conditions happen, I can have the freedom the jet over to places like this and get on those awesome opportunities ASAP. I envy that you got to be here.

I like the shot. Nice going here. :toast:

I like this a lot. The comp is very pleasing, and the blend work looks excellent. The rich greens and the detail withing the rock face in the BG makes this sing.

Looks great, never would have guessed it's winter. I can't wait to spend way too much time in the gorge in just a few months! :toast:
