The Homestead

Out before the sun broke the horizon, I stopped at this old house alongside some fields and farmland. I've posted one image from here, that being "Painted Sunrise" which is the bright sunrise seen only through the repeating panes of glass on the beautiful old windows.

I debated posting this in B&W in a kind of high-contrast version. But in the end, the soft mood of this and simplicity won out (I'll post the B&W for comparison though). Had the ISO set on 100 expecting the sun to already be up and forgot to change it. So here it is in aperture mode at 1/40th, f-11.0 and 32mm on D60. C&C welcomed, larger posted.

I like photos like this. It is kind of a sad image. You can almost see Sunday picnic out front with kids running around and people laughing and having fun.

I like this photo, its a great building, it has great potential so I will go and find that other image. This photograph is pleasing but i find myself wondering if you had got down lower and back abit, and therefore didnt have as much branch coverage in the middle of the photograph??. A minor point but only cloning out the branches would help now, and hate suggesting that. The framing and angle of the building is lovely. The light and the snow is terrific. Can you shoot this again, is it nearby??

This is very nice Bill. It has a wonderful feel and almost looks like a painting, which I'm really enjoying. Although it seems like it would make a great b/w I just love the touch of color in it. This is a wonderful looking old house and it really does make you think about what all went on here. I would go back here offten I think if it is not to far away. :toast:

Thank you, much of course is reliant on this wonderful old house. KatherineAnne, yes, I suspect I could try that. But I obviously left the tree in, just for this take on it as I like the comp. I could move all the way over and completely remove it from the scene as well.

And Nick thank you, always appreciated. It is nearby and a lovely spot.
