I had a truly great time with the Harlequin Ducks last winter at Barnegat Light, NJ.
Nikon D300, 500mm
1/500 sec at f/7.1, ISO 320
~95% of frame
C+C welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Nice perch and backgrround. The thick black border is a distraction for me as its the most dominate color in the picture and draws my eyes from the bird.

Alex,
Love the pose, the dark blue water in the background and the nice eye contact. Sharpness & detail look good at the size posted, would have liked to have seen this larger to view the fine plumage details. This feels tight in the frame to me, top, bottom and left side. Maybe backing up a small amount in the field would have given you a looser comp, though I don't know if that would have been possible.

This looks tack sharp, and I too would love to see this large so I could see all the details better. A bit more room on top would improve this comp IMO. Overall a great shot.

Nice portrait, Alex. Good to see a shot of the female of this species, makes a change from the rather showy male.

Sharpness and detail look good at this size Alex. I like the pose, the whites look good and I enjoy the shades of blue in the water background. I also feel that the bird is a little tight.
