Cardinal

Yet another cardinal from me, and my last for a while...I promise! I like this because of the late afternoon lighting and the hint of a snowy bg.

Don't stop posting them on my account. One of my favorite songbirds and I never get tired looking at a fine specimen like this with such a nice perch and background. Love it!

love the colors and light in this shot Sharon. A nice simple comp with a great BG. I might bring down the saturation on the bird just a bit to see how that looks as the reds look just a bit overdone as presented, but I am generally a poor judge of this type of thing, so just a suggestion.

I especially like the subtlety of the background in this one Sharon but the Cardinal looks very nice also.

Ron...this particular cardinal is that colorful...much more so than the others I have hanging around. She stands out so much that we have named her Maybelline! She just has more make-up on than the others!!! We especially like her red eyeshadow

No need to stop posting these on my account - I am enjoying the reminder of what winter can be like. The light and snow gives this a very airy feel.

Gorgeous colours, beautiful light, and a very complimentary BG; whats not to like.

The sharpness on this is very good considering it was shot at a 1/50th, great job, Sharon.

Sharon,

I sure wish we had these out here, they are gorgeous birds imho and I've have always loved the subtle beauty of the females of this species. Love the dreamy background, the pose and the clarity of the eye. I might do a selective levels layer of the bird and perch and bring down the mid tones very slightly. That would give just a smidge more definition to the plumage.

Don't stop posting cardinals on my account!

Classic pose and wonderful colors, nice job. We have Ron Dudley and harriers, Ron Bielefeld and tree ducks and Don Harbour with his bluebirds....move over and add Sharon Hallowell - "Cardinal Queen".

What can I say? Beautiful. I like everything: composition, very readable hues of color, gorgeous background which fits and at same time contrasts with the subject, soft light with diffused shadows… Outstanding portrait, really!
