This Painted Bunting closeup is one of my favorites from the Spring of 2009. It shows the birds striking eye ring, with its "rainbow" of colors. Perhaps a bit short on DOF, but the birds head/eye came in nicely.
F/6.3,1/250th, ISO 500, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + Kenko 2x ext & overcast.

good detail and beautiful colors, the slight lack of DOF doesn't bother me

Wow, what a beauty! Very nice. Fairly subjective, but personally i prefer this with the lhs cropped--that bud diverts my attention from the bird a bit. Cool shot! :wavey:
