Shotgun shells

This scene grabbed my eye this afternoon, at the tail end of the winter storm that literally blew through. The triangle pattern of the shells is what caught my attention. I don't hunt, but I'm not opposed to hunting. I am opposed to hunters leaving their shells everywhere. This was at Cheyenne Bottoms WA, central Kansas.

I agree completely Rob. I've hunted all my life, and it astounds me that other hunters don't see this as litter, much in the same way smokers don't see cigarette butts as litter! People have such little respect for nature!

Among the folks I know, the litter of shells is a result of a success of sorts. Back in the early 70's manufacturers were required to start making them with biodegradable plastics, so most hunters just take it for granted that they will disappear. In my experience it takes about 3 years for that to happen, and the brass remains, though less obviously so due to dulling and corrosion. I don't know about these with the "chrome" plating on the brass.

Good catch, and nicely composed photo.
