Green-winged Teal

Taken in the morning at San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary (SJWS) I cropped this to 50% of the full frame to enlarge the bird and cut out some distracting reflections and for comp. I have sharpened and increased exposure a little in Elements. I still got some eye but I really like that I got the colors of the head and the wings.

Comments are appreciated.

Nice one, lights colours and details are great. In the larger version it ssems tht a drop was passing in front of the eye at the shoot moment.

This bird is really lit up nice Harry. I don't mind the back view as it shows feather groups not visible from the front. I might bring down the brightest feathers just a bit if this were mine.

Hey Harry,
Nice grab! The colors on the head and the wing, not to mention the green reflection is very nice. It looks like you got your 7D recalibrated so the focusing is much better. The light is really nice here Harry. Only wish he was at a better angle. You might try toning down the whites just a touch. Real nice shot Harry. By the way, are you going to be shooting this weekend on Saturday? E-mail me and let me know. Love to get together again with you and Eric. :toast:

Really like the pose Harry - personally I'd sacrifice having the bird facing us just to see these colors and you still got a good look at the eye so this works quite well for me. 1/3200 froze the action nicely.

Harry,

Great pose, love the erect posture, wing position and how the head is tilted up. I might bring the exposure down globally a bit which would tone down the brightest greens and the whites under the right wing. Your comp works well for me.

I love the colors Harry. Great detail for such a large crop and subject in motion. Nice shot.

I really like the way his wings are spread out! I also really like the green on his wings and head. Very nice picture!
