Northern Cardinal

I really liked the perch, the pose and surrounding vegetation on this male cardinal. Photographed at a private ranch in South Texas late Saturday afternoon. We were losing light and had to bump up my ISO.

Canon 7D, f2.8, SS 125, ISO 1000, Aperture priority using Tripod

Comments greatly appreciated in advance.

Love the comp Carlos, but wish the very tip of the perch branch did not meet the left of the frame. A bit more there would be nice IMO. Nice habitat and BG and the head turn is perfect. Good sharpness and detail.

Beautiful pose from this guy, with nice side/backlighting. I like the perch too! Just a little more room L and some more on the bottom would help, but still very nice as posted! Sharon

Nice results for the ISO. I agree about a small shift in framing; perhaps you have some more space that was cropped away?

Carlos , this is just excellent. I to wish for a little more room on the left. The oof branch does not bother me at all.

Carlos,

I like the pose of the cardinal and the look back over the shoulder it appears to be giving you. The comp presented is ok but I think it could be strnger by having a little more room on the left side & bottom and remove a bit from the right side of the frame.
