Kananaskis Country

Here is a recent shot taken near Upper Kananaskis Lake. I wish the mountains were a little more prominent in the shot, but this was the only shot available to me at the moment. I always have trouble with white balance in snowy scenes like this, hope this one is relatively accurate.

What a peaceful snow scene. You've picked up on something that I've noticed in my digital work, there seems to be a lot more color in the shadows that I noticed when shooting slides. In this shot, I'd say you've got the white balance correct because the sunlit mountain in the background is nicely white. The blue cast to the foreground snow is the real reflection of the blue sky.

Wayne,

A quiet and beautiful winter landscape. I get the sense that without snow shoes, one would be struggling in waist deep, ultra fine powder.

I too with the mountains loomed larger, but we can't have everything. I do think the white balance and overall color looks quite good and natural. There should be a bit of blue here considering the time of day and lighting. No nits or suggestions.

I like it, Wayne. It looks like home. Actually, I really like the soft snow banks along the stream (?) in the FG. I think you could have made another cool photo of just them.
I'm curious about the timing of this photo; 4 seconds at ISO 400? Wow, it must have been really dark, right?

Wayne,
I like it. The whites look good, as noted the blue in the foreground snow reflects the sky and the temperatures. Makes me miss the area. I moved back to Ohio in June and have been wanting to get back up there to enjoy all the snow that has fallen this winter.

Love this point of view Wayne. All the tones work well together at selling the place
Nice job
