1st Hummingbird Picture

After seeing all of the great hummingbird pictures on this site, I decided to head to my local nature center (Bowie Nature Center, Fairview, TN) to get some practice. The problem I had was that I left my tripod on my deck when I left. So most of my shots were OOF. However, I did manage to get one decent shot, IMHO at least. This was taken late in the year so I can assure you I have already invested in several HB feeders for my yard for the upcoming season. C&C absolutely welcome.

You are fortunate to have a place where you can practice with these guys. Composition and light look pretty good Eric. I do detect quite a bit of noise for iso 400 on a D90?

Eric,

It sounds like you will have fun this coming summer photographing these birds in your yard. I like the pose of the bird and the composition you used. It looks to me like you sharpened the whole image globally and that may have increased the visible noise in the background, I suggest selectively masking the bird and only applying sharpening to it.
