Short-eared Owl

Olympus E5, Sigma 50-500, f9, 1/640, ISO 200 handheld

Wasn't going to post any more SEO shots, but went out yesterday afternoon between snowstorms and found 6 different SEOs, and they all gave me some shots. The light was not good, and this was shot directly towards what light there was coming through the clouds, so didn't get the most ideal lighting for the shot.

David..this is a wonderful image, and quite a different perspective of an owl. We tend to make images of the owl looking at us, but this one quite different. The colors and the detail are wonderful. well done

No complaints from me. Looks well and expertly taken and processed. The owl looks like it is braving a cold wind!

Great capture, David. I like very much the pose, the expression and the detail of the bird. No nits about the exposure: to me the BG faitly represents the weather conditions. Congratulations.

Love the comp David. The snow on the front of the post really adds IMO. To be really picky, I see some noise showing up in the wing of the bird and the detail in the feathers is lacking a bit. Is this a sizeable crop? Overall really nice.

Perhaps not the best lightning, but you managed it very well David.
Don't often see the owl from this POV, I like it! :toast:

Please don't stop on the owls. Great image. I like the faraway pose. Ice on the front of the perch is nice.
