Water Cups

I'm not sure which plant this is. I photographed it at Selby Gardens in Sarasota, Florida. I debated with my wife the use of a polarizer but she said that it would have made the water disappear which she liked. She's right, any thoughts? I also was banned from using a tripod except to use it as a monopod which made it tough, late in the day. Canon 1Ds Mk IV, 100mm f/2.8L, ISO 3200, 1/8 sec, Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB. Comments are welcome.....

Richard:
Tough shooting condition (iso3200, 1/8 and not tripod)! Your wife is right about not using a polarizer as you would lose another stop. There is obvious strong highlights from water reflection but they do not interfere with the image. The image is a little soft but I understand the difficulty without a tripod. Weird looking plant; looks a bit like insulating cups on high tension electrical wires.

Interesting Richard. I have never seen anything like this before. You are correct that the conditions were difficult. I think I might have tried with and without the polarizer. It would certianly have cut down on the glare and you may have still got the effect of the water.

What a unique capture Richard. Wonderfully captured and displayed under some not so ideal conditions. Nice. :toast:

Welcome to the gallery Richard. I have no idea what this is but I think the decision to avoid the polarizer was a good one. Interesting image. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them.
