Red-Winged Blackbird

I have been skunked for weeks! If I had light, no birds. If I had birds, no light. Today I got home with about 30 minutes of light left, and the sun was out! That is a rare occassion in Washington State! So, I rushed into the house and grabbed my gear and headed to the local water reclaimation ponds. There were many proud, noisy RWBB's there, and this one posed nicely for me!

Mike,
Congrats on getting some decent light. I'll bet it's been frustrating. Very nice background and a perfect perch for this guy. Nice feather detail and catch light in the eye. You even got him in the midst of a call.

Congrats, Mike, glad you got out for the light. This is a classic pose, nice bg, good comp, and perfect perch. Really nice. The reds look a little off on my monitor, not quite as red as I'd expect, but that doesn't mean they're not accurate.

Well, amazing what you can do in 30 minutes when you are determined. Great pose and nice techs. If it is any consolation to you, we have no light and no birds either... :frown: - see my recent post of a sparrow from 7 months ago :frown:

Gorgeous, Mike. Great pose and perch and the bg is perfect. You did an excellent job on the exposure. I need to get out for these soon (If I can find the light!). :toast:
