Heart of Stone

Shot this at Big Bend Nationl Park a while back, maybe 4-5 years ago. The title comes from the somewhat obvious heart shape in the ULC. I liked the overall texture of the stone, and the color, including the blood red for the heart!

LARGER version available for better detail.

D2X w/ 70-300 @ 105mm
1/30 @ f/11 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
No filters
Tripod
Capture One 6, CS4, TK's actions

Critiques, suggestions, and comments always welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking and sharing.

Bill, I can even recall your trip to Big Bend back then, although I do not remember you ever posting this very fine image. Some nice-wild rose color going on here. To me it seems to fit a variety of looks and feels, natural, abstract and or mosaic too.

I like the colors, lines and textures. Minor, but I might clone the dark spot lower right. Nice change of pace image. I like it.

A very nice scene. The color and lines work really well together. My only wish is that one dark spot near the left edge wasn't there, but c'est la vie.

This has an almost human quality to it. Must be the colors, shapes, and textures.
Interesting.

Really outstanding image, Bill. The rock does have an 'organic' look to it and your composition is exquisite. Well done.

It took me a while to find the heart, and I liked that! This is a nice close up of beautiful colors/textures.

This does feel carnal, Bill. Fascinating array of flesh tones and patterns in the rock.

Bill,

This is quite fascinating. I really like the soft colors and gentle patterns throughout. At first the strong white diagonal was distracting me, but the more I've viewed this, the more I find it adding some tension and dynamic to a static scene. The line also tells a nature story, of geology which I am clueless about, but none the less, there is some geologic history captured here which makes this have a touch of mystery as well.

This to my eyes looks like a cross section of someones organs. The red lines look like veins. The earth tones look great and the lines are nice also. No nits here, very beautifully done. Cheers
