Tuesday's snow

For the second Tuesday in a row, snow blanketed Kansas. Unlike last week, this snow was a little heavier and much higher in quantity (pushing 12" here in central Kansas). The winds were also lighter than last week, so the snow stayed put better. Two years ago, I created a similar photo during a blizzard, so I took the opportunity today to recreate the scene and explore more options. For the curious, the mule deer rack is several years old, was shot by a co-worker, and placed in the scene by me. In hindsight, I would have placed it a bit more to the left, but this will do. 7D, ISO 100, f/11, 1/80

I don't know if I would have noticed the rack if you hadn't mentioned it. Might be a cool element if you can get it to stand out a little more. I love the action of the snow. You can definately get the sense of being in a blizzard. :toast:

I didn't notice the antlers until you mentioned them. I suppose a better silhouette of the antlers would add drama and story to the photo, but the image would plenty beautiful without them. I love the horizontal lines of the blowing snow against the dark vertical trunks. Well-done!

Hey Rob, Just can't stay inside out of the snow can ya.... I like the vertical lines of the trees combined with the horizontal lines of the blowing snow. I can almost feel the wind blowing. The grasses on the left give a nice touch of color to offset the upper right.

You got the snow this time and we missed it. With the big storm and then the follow-up smaller storm we have a total of 20.5". Season total of snow 40.5" which is 30" above normal. What happened to global warming ???

Great shot. I like how the blowing snow was captured, and the composition with the strong vertical shapes, echoed by the trees in the background (love that foggy look).

This one really tells the story well Rob. It conveys the intensity of the storm very well. Great job.
