Big head or what !

Hawfinch
This is the second shot I got. The bird is 5 feet in front of the camera. This shows the advantage of not having a low view point. As the angle of the bird is on a similar plane to the camera it is easier to get more in focus in the bad light conditions at the time, and with average equipment. With a low angle, the wing frills would have been no where near in focus. I,ve stopped using the board in the hide as a tripod head support as I reckon it amplifies the sound. I now use a bean bag with a jumper wrapped around the camera.

Neat image. 70% of full frame.

Hello John.

Another beauty and love the pose of the bird. I also quite like the water patterns in front of the bird as well.

Excellent species and a very nice quality image. I love the almost metallic sheen to the water, both in this one and the previous one.

You must be the envy of everyone on here, getting so close to a beautiful bird like this.
Well done.

Hi John

Another cracker and an example of where a higher view point has produced a fine image.
