Little and Large

This is a photo of a Coal Tit and a Great Tit on a piece of driftwood I found on a local beach, I set it up in front of my hide as a perch.

This was only meant to be a practice shot with my new equipment, I was having trouble with the focussing and was taking shots with varying focus adjustment settings.
This one was at the maximum of +20 which I've since discovered was too much, +10 is the correct setting, so I've probably lost some depth of focus on this one, but I think I've got away with it?

Nikon D3
Nikkor 200-400
1/400th
f8
ISO 400
+0.7 stop exposure compensation
330mm
slight crop top and right
The BG is trees with snow on them and bracken behind, lit by the warm Winter's sunshine.

Welsh birds are very friendly, Geoffrey- you could try with a multi-branched perch to catch other species together- focus seems perfect, BG and details are excellent- well done, Fabio

You've done well here Geoff. Very nice to see such an effective species comparison. You got nice poses from both birds and I quite like the background.

Great shot. Two different species on the same great perch, both looking the same direction and a very good background. It works very well for me.

neat comparison and a nice looking perch you picked out, Geoffrey. bg is really nice too. focus doesn't look like it was perfect, but very nice for while you were experimenting.

Well this turned out nicely for a practice shot. I love that the birds are so similar in coloration and markings, but so different in size.

I'd take it, Geoffrey! I can see some minor loss of focus in the larger version, but not enough to bother me-another round of sharpening might have eliminated even that. Wonderful to get the two species together like that. :toast:
